A MegaLab in the metropolis with a capacity of 10 million tests per month has been announced by the Indian Institute of Technology Alumni Council which will be set up in July 2020. The lab will be set up as a part of the efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The IIT Alumni Council is the largest global body alumni, students, and faculty across all the IITs with over 100 city chapters.

The Alumni Council has also stated that it will soon begin identifying the partners for the effort through a global competition. The council which launched the first COVID-19 Test Bus in the city earlier in the month, the Alumni Council has also stated that trials have begun in two of the supercomputer cluster in the megapolis which has taken more than 35,000 cases out of the 1.58 lakh in the country and nearly 2000 from the 4,700 deaths in the country so far.
