Prof. G.P. Sastry from the Department of Physics at IIT-Kharagpur was a popular professor that has also published a number of textbooks. This past year, "The Chadralekha Singh and Jeremy Levy Student Excellence Awards", an annual award given to two top undergraduate students at IIT Kharagpur, was created in the honour of Prof. Mandakini Majumdar and Prof. G.P.
