IIT Kharagpur Foundation (USA) NEWSLETTER

Volume: 03.11.2023

Dear Reader,

This week we are bringing you information about three new academic initiatives from IIT KGP. These innovative new courses and certificates are geared towards students who want to further explore their passion in these areas or for the new undergraduate student entering IITKGP who wants to do a BS in while having the option to do a MS in their area of specialization. Finally, we provide details about mini alumni meetups.
If you have news or ideas to share with alums around North America, please write to meenakshi@iitkgpfoundation.org for connections and contributions.

8-Week Free Online Course on 5G Technology

The eight-week course titled Evolution of Air Interface Towards 5G will educate students on air interface — one of the most important elements that differentiate between 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G.

Although the course is open to any interested professional or student, the course is particularly designed for students interested in telecommunications engineering, senior undergraduate students, graduate-level students, MS and Ph.D. students, and practicing engineers in wireless communications.

Certification for the course will be available on payment of a registration fee.

New 4-year BS Program

IIT Kharagpur has launched a 4-year BS Programme (with six specializations) instead of 5 years integrated MSc program. The specializations include applied geology, economics, chemistry, exploration geophysics, mathematics and computing, and physics. The new program will enable students to opt for an extended MS degree at the end of the sixth semester.

Students will be admitted through JEE Advanced scores and JOSSA counseling.

Joint AI Certificate with Virginia Tech

IIT Kharagpur in collaboration with Virginia Tech has launched an online Joint Certificate Programme in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Since IITKGP is looking to expand the reach of this  programme around the world, alums are invited to consider helping promote the programme to your networks.  A link to the detailed brochure of the program is available here.

Cross-country Kgpian Meet-ups

What would make your day this almost spring day — A vacation to the tropics, a relaxing weekend, how about hanging out with fellow Kgpians doing gupshup over garam coffee? Atal Agarwal is bringing a mini alumni meet to your neighborhood. Here are some moments from the recent meets in Seattle and Chicago.

We call upon you to make small contributions to research and students!
