Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law has earned the 4th ranking in the NIRF 2019 ratings. Those ranked higher in the Law category were all specialized schools dedicated to law curriculum.

In a Careers360 article from April 12, 2019, KGP Director P P Chakrabarti said, "While there are specialized institutions in these subject areas, being part of IIT Kharagpur has catapulted the growth of these disciplines in a matter of a few decades due to the convergence culture of IIT Kharagpur typically focusing on research, multidisciplinary academics and overall career development of students enabling a unique symbiotic approach to excellence."
