IIT-KGP's Academy of Classical and Folk Arts holds lecture demonstration with Pt. Abhijit Banerjee

The Academy of Classical and Folk Arts (ACFA), IIT Kharagpur hosted an event under the GKF (Guru Krupa Foundation) lec-dem series on October 31, 2021. The lecture demonstration titled, "Gharanas of Tabla and their Relevance in Modern Times", featured Pandit Abhijit Banerjee (eminent tabla maestro and foremost disciple of Padmabhushan Guru Jnan Prakakash Ghosh). Pt. Banerjee shared his views on the Indian TAAL system, the different styles and gharanas of Tabla including their origins and distinctive features and the relevance of the gharana system in today's connected world. The maestro also touched upon accompaniment as an art and the different approaches towards vocal, instrumental and dance performances even within the same gharana.
