Paresh Shah (1991/BTech/CH/LLR) and his wife Shimul recently donated funds to set up the "Paresh & Shimul Shah Chair Professorship" and the "Paresh & Shimul Shah Student Award". Both the Professorship and the Student Award will benefit the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT-KGP. The main objective of the Chair Professorship is to carry out state-of-the-art teaching, research and industrial collaboration in the Department of Chemical Engineering and will also guide a Final Year B.Tech student in CE in his/her final year project submission. The Student Award will be given to one Fourth Year B.Tech student from the Chemical Engineering Department at IIT-Kharagpur. Paresh shared the following quote, “At Kharagpur, we acquired a complete education making the setting up of this Chair Professorship and Student Award very heart warming. As we went through this process, I relived so many precious memories. Thank you KGP.”

About Paresh

Paresh graduated as a Chemical Engineer from IIT Kharagpur in 1991 and married Shimul in 1994. They migrated to the US in 2004 where Paresh acquired his CFP designation. Paresh and Shimul own their own business, PareShah Partners, a full-service financial planning firm, in Long Island, NY.

Paresh was also the co-host and speaker of a talk show "Your Money-Your Taxes" for the South Asian channel-ITV. Long Island Business News awarded Paresh "2016 Honoree-Diversity in Business Award".

The Shah's support a school for the Deaf and Mute in Bhavnagar, a school for Blind children in Saputara and The Sister Nivedita Foundation in Rajkot-all three in Gujarat, India. They have sponsored individuals through their Undergraduate Engineering/Architecture Education and continue to support education and healthcare initiatives.

Paresh and Shimul reside in Hicksville, NY with their son Shamik, who is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Psychology at Hunters College in NYC.
