IIT Kharagpur is delighted to congratulate Dr Dilip T Shahani, Emeritus Professor of Centre for Sensors, Instrumentation and Cyber Physical System Engineering in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and a silver medallist from IIT Kharagpur in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering (1973 batch) who was conferred the Padma Shri Award 2022, one of the highest civilian awards of the country for his contribution to the field of education.
A silver medallist from IIT Kharagpur and PhD from IIT Delhi, Dr Shahani expertise in electronic instrumentation, electromagnetics, antennas etc. He has served as a faculty at IIT Delhi for over four decades and now continues to be associated with the Institute as the honorary professor. During his tenure, Prof Shahani served twice as HoD and has additionally obtained awards for ‘Excellence in Teaching and Technology Development and Transfer in Electromagnetic Systems’. He has a string of profitable R&D initiatives for Defence & Industry and has been a technical expert, engaged in mentoring the latest EVM design for the Election Commission of India and VVPAT technology platforms for several years. He was conferred the National Award for best Electoral Practices in 2017.
