Kgpians Afsar Ahmad and Govind Agarwal Reinvent Ludo

Remember the game of Ludo? One of the popular childhood games in India has been made available on your mobile screen by Kgpians Afsar Ahmad and Govind Agarwal. Named Ludo Star, the mobile game gained popularity in 2020 keeping families together and engaged.

Gameberry Labs, the startup of Ahmad and Agarwal, is currently beta-testing two games in the word and board games categories. The company has already crossed $100 million in lifetime revenue in 2021 with the game being profitable right from its inception.

Batchmates since 2009, Ahmad and Agarwal shared a passion to build great mobile games. “games that people would love to grow old with. Games that were simple but deep enough to keep players engaged,” they told Forbes. In 2017 the duo launched Gameberry Labs to bring classic board games to mobiles with a rich social experience layer connecting friends and families, even from a great distance.

Gameberry Labs is changing the market share of gaming companies, ending the dominance of western players. While the duo started by catering to the taste of Indian gamers, the company has found strong markets in  Saudi Arabia, Spain, and the USA. Its flagship products Ludo Star and Parchisi Star have over 200 million downloads and more than 5 million daily active users. The company is also in the process of beta testing two more gaming products  — Backgammon Friends and Word League.
