Kgpians Etching Their Mark in India-UAE Trade Relations

IITKGP Foundation

A team from IIT Kharagpur has reached the grand finale of THE BIG TECH PROJECT, the first-ever innovation challenge organized by Emirati multinational logistics company DP World. The KGP team is working on a digital-twin solution to tackle harbor congestion, unpredictable demand, and unreliable operations.

A digital twin is a virtual replica of a product or service or even a person. When connected or paired with the physical, it enables simulation to understand or even predict problems before they occur. With the roll-out of 5G and Industry, 4.0 technologies the manufacturing hubs and factories could be fully connected and automated.

The Institute has been working on this technology for the past few years as a step toward Industry 4.0. The KGP team will be presenting innovative solutions for global supply chain technologies.

The grand finale for DP World's first-ever Student Innovators title will take place at the end of November with guaranteed internships for all the finalists at DP World.

While the students prepare their solutions, DP World continues to expand its tech centers worldwide and build new solutions. It recently established two new tech centers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad in India, with another upcoming center in Gurgaon.
