Srijan Kumar (2013/CSE/NH) Receives the Prestigious NSF Career Award

IIT Kharagpur alumni Srijan Kumar is an Assistant Professor at the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology and recently received the prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER award for his research to detect and correct misinformation on online platforms. In 2022, Srijan was also included in Forbes 30 under 30 in Science and recognized as a Kavli Fellow by the National Academy of Sciences.

 

The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is the National Science Foundation's most prestigious award in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Only 500 awards are given yearly at an acceptance rate of below 20%. Dr. Srijan Kumar’s award is to develop methods to detect and correct misinformation on online platforms with the aim to boost information literacy in society and reduce the number of people exposed to misinformation.
