Vanderbilt University Names KGPian Krishnendu Roy as Next Dean of School of Engineering

2022 IITKGP distinguished alum Krishnendu “Krish” Roy (1993/B Tech/IE/RK) has been appointed the next Bruce and Bridgitt Evans Dean of Engineering at Vanderbilt University’s School of Engineering. Dr. Krishnendu Roy received his undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (India) followed by his MS from Boston University and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Krish has made multiple path breaking contributions in the fields of vaccines and immunotherapies, biomanufacturing and regenerative medicine. Krish’s award-winning work as a pioneering biomedical engineer has resulted in many accolades including being elected as a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Biomedical Engineering Society and the Controlled Release Society. He also has received the NSF CAREER Award, young investigator awards from the Society for Biomaterials and the Controlled Release Society, and the Global Indus Technovator Award from MIT, among others.
In a conversation with us, Krish acknowledged the foundational influence of his IITKgp education: “IITKGP played a pivotal role in shaping my research, academic, and leadership career. Kgp taught me how to solve complex problems. My years of involvement in the Spring Fest A-team instilled in me the importance and dynamics of Teamwork and how to get things done with limited resources. I am deeply grateful for the life lessons from my Kgp days and the opportunities it gave me.”
