IITKGP Alum Dr. Anshumali Shrivastava and Rice Computer Science Professor Receives Outstanding Achievement Award

Anshumali Shrivastava (2008/M.Sc./Mathematics and Computing) was recognized by Rice University with the Charles W. Duncan Jr. Achievement Award for Outstanding Faculty! The award honors tenure-track or tenured faculty demonstrating outstanding performance in both teaching and scholarship. Anshumali has also founded Houston-based ThirdAI which has already received $6 million in funding. Prof. Shrivastava considers himself incredibly fortunate to have received recognition of this stature because initial milestones are always special and well-cherished. He attributes a large part of his success to the student community he works with at Rice. Dr. Shrivastava describes the impact of his IITKGP experience as follows: “As I continued my professional and academic career, I realized I already had the skills and capabilities to overcome the challenges I could not have anticipated. When I think back, I am more thankful than ever for my KGP days for teaching me focus, mathematical rigor, the importance of passion in delivering ideas, and the capability to work and assimilate in any diverse environment. It still surprises me as I continue to uncover the significance of the training I received during my undergraduate years at IITKGP.”
