From Campus to Catalyst —
IITKGP’s Rajarhat Research Park

As IIT Kharagpur celebrates 75 years of excellence, it is charting an ambitious new course — the expansion of its Rajarhat Innovation & Technology Research Park in Kolkata. The Park is envisioned as a dynamic ecosystem where researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry partners co-locate to co-create technologies addressing global challenges in AI, sustainability, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.

The initiative has already drawn anchor partners such as TCS, which has set up a robotics and AI research center within the Park. With modern labs, incubation space, and collaborative R&D suites, the Park aims to serve as a bridge between IITKGP’s cutting-edge research and real-world deployment.

For North American alumni, this is an opportunity to reconnect and contribute — by mentoring startups, sponsoring labs, investing in translational research, or bringing global collaborations home. As Director Prof. Suman Chakraborty notes, this effort is not just an expansion of space, but “a transformation of purpose — turning ideas into impact.”
