Alumni Trailblazer Interview —
Ishita Sharan (1997/E&ECE/SN-IG)

IITKGP Foundation

From the tree-lined avenues of IIT Kharagpur to the innovation corridors of Silicon Valley, Ishita Sharan’s journey is a story of curiosity, courage, and community.

As a student at IITKGP, Ishita (1997/B.Tech/E&ECE/SN-IG) was known for digging beneath the surface of technology—Why does a product matter? How does it shape behavior? What makes it meaningful? Those early instincts carried her across continents and into the world of product leadership, where she built a reputation for translating complex data into intuitive, human-centered solutions..

But Ishita’s story stands apart because of the way she combines achievement with generosity. She has been a driving force in the IIT Bay Area Alumni Association, helping design programs that build belonging—health and wellness sessions, book clubs, mentorship circles, and community events that keep KGPians connected across generations. Colleagues often point to her ability to bring people together, her thoughtful leadership, and her gift for turning ideas into initiatives that actually stick.

In this exclusive conversation, Ishita shares how she navigated her career, how she found her voice in leadership, and why she believes alumni networks can be engines of opportunity and support. Her reflections are candid, wise, and grounded in lived experience.
