Restore the Legacy. Renew the Halls.
Shape the Future

IITKGP Foundation

For generations of IIT Kharagpur alumni, our halls were far more than places to sleep. They were where lifelong friendships were forged, leadership was cultivated, ideas were debated late into the night, and memories were created that continue to bind us to IITKGP decades later.

Today, many of the institute's older halls face the challenge of aging infrastructure. While government funding supports the construction of new halls and the ongoing operation of the institute, modernization and renovation of existing halls depend largely on the generosity of alumni. Improvements to dining facilities, kitchens, bathrooms, common rooms, student activity spaces, and other hall infrastructure are made possible primarily through philanthropic contributions from former residents who want to give back to the halls that shaped their lives.

Modernization is about much more than upgrading buildings. It is about creating safe, functional, and inspiring environments that support student well-being, collaboration, innovation, and community. As student expectations evolve and facilities age, investments in hall infrastructure are essential to maintaining the vibrant residential experience that has long distinguished IIT Kharagpur.

Every renovated common room, upgraded washroom, improved dining space, and modernized student facility reflects the commitment of alumni who believe future generations deserve an even better hall experience than their own. These projects are tangible examples of alumni transforming campus life, one hall at a time.

The halls helped shape us. Now, we have an opportunity to help shape their future. By supporting hall modernization efforts, alumni can preserve the traditions, spirit, and sense of community that make IIT Kharagpur unique while ensuring that today's students have facilities worthy of their aspirations.
