For Gupshup, Timepass, and Everything in Between

IITKGP Foundation 

Think back to Kharagpur. Not the classrooms, laboratories or hostels, but the spaces in between—the familiar paths across campus, the shade of a tree, the unexpected meeting with a friend, and the conversations that somehow lasted much longer than planned.

Sometimes, all you needed was a place to sit.

Thanks to the leadership of Amit Agarwal and the Batch of 1998, 10 benches have now been installed at locations across the IIT Kharagpur campus. Their initial $3,500 contribution supported the supply and installation of the first 10 benches, creating useful spaces for today's students, faculty, staff and visitors. The benches are located near the Agriculture Gate, Takshila Gate, Institute Gate No. 2, the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Central Research Facility Building.

It is a reminder that some of the most memorable parts of our IITKGP years happened outside the classroom.

Now, Let's Add 100 More!

The IITKGP Foundation and IIT Kharagpur Office of Alumni Affairs would like to build on this initiative by supporting the supply and installation of another 100 benches across campus. 

A bench can be sponsored by an individual, a family, a group of friends or an alumni batch. Multiple benches can also be sponsored collectively.

For alumni living thousands of miles from Kharagpur, this is a small but tangible way to give back to the campus that gave us so much—and to create something that today's students can use every day.

The next time a student sits down after a long day of classes, two friends stop for a conversation, or a group gathers for a little gupshup and timepass, your contribution could be part of that moment.
