The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur Batch of 1993 is proud to share that they have created the A K Singh Distinguished Chair Professorship, which will award 6 new/existing teachers of IITKGP at any level (Assistant/Associate/Full) and any type of affiliation (Regular/Visiting/Adjunct) for 2 years each. The chairs will be in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and will be housed in the new Center of Artificial Intelligence at IITKGP. These chairs are in honor and memory of their batchmate, Ajay Kumar (AK) Singh (1993, B.Tech, EE) , who passed away in the line of duty as the Superintendent of Police in Bihar.

Ajay Kumar Singh (1971-2000) was a trailblazer in every sense of the word. A brilliant student from Begusarai, Bihar, Ajay joined IIT Kharagpur in 1989 to earn his BTech in Electrical Engineering.
