IIT-Kharagpur focuses on EM Bypass to make it safer

KOLKATA: IIT Kharagpur's civil engineering department is conducting a study to improve safety of pedestrians and drivers and improve traffic management within six months.
"The survey, done on behalf of state's urban development department, has been going on for the last two weeks. The researchers are evaluating various parameters like road safety, use of signals by pedestrians and drivers, etc," said Bhargab Maitra from the IIT. He said, "We are consulting various stakeholders like KMDA, KMC, transport department, Kolkata Police and Bidhannagar Police as well as Metro authorities for the safety audit of Bypass. We are focusing on 25 intersections between Ultadanga and Garia so that Bypass can be a model road." (Read More)
