From New York to Kharagpur:
An Indian AI Startup Goes Global
An idea born from a student's experience in New York is now being developed with the support of IIT Kharagpur, and taking aim at the global AI market.
Kreativespace, an Indian AI-powered writing platform founded by Vinet Kakadea, is incubated at IIT Kharagpur and has been recognized through several major Indian technology and innovation programs, including the Ministry of Education's Bodhan AI Conclave, the NVIDIA Inception Program, and the AWS Startup Program.
The story began in 2022, when Kakadea was a student at New York University. According to the company, the idea took shape in Alumni Hall in NYU's East Village, where he experienced firsthand the challenges of academic writing, particularly for students who may have strong ideas but struggle to express them clearly in English. That experience led him to envision an accessible, ethical AI platform that could help people write with greater clarity and confidence.
Kakadea is not an IIT Kharagpur alumnus. His company's connection to IIT Kharagpur comes through its incubation, an important example of how the Institute's growing innovation ecosystem is reaching entrepreneurs beyond its own alumni community. Today, Kreativespace describes its mission as making AI writing assistance accessible and affordable while supporting learning, originality and academic integrity.
The venture's progress reflects an increasingly important dimension of IIT Kharagpur: its role not only as a center of education and research, but as a launchpad for entrepreneurship and technology commercialization. Through incubation and its network of mentors and institutional partners, IITKGP is helping entrepreneurs connect ideas with technical expertise, research capabilities and the broader Indian innovation ecosystem.
From New York to Surat, and from Surat to Kharagpur, the journey of Kreativespace is a small but telling example of how India's next generation of innovation is being built: globally inspired, Indian in execution, and increasingly connected to IIT Kharagpur.
