In 2018 IIT Kharagpur, IITKGP Foundation, and WHEELS Global Foundation/WIN (Wheels India Niswarth Foundation) signed an MoU to set-up a Re-Water Research Center. WHEELS India (WIN) provided a grant of close to $100,000 to IIT Kharagpur to kick-start the center and its research and development towards designing, installing, and operating of a treatment plant for UASB Effluent to produce Potable Quality Treated Water with a capacity of 400 cubic meters/day. Professor Makarand Ghangrekar, Head, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, leads a team of researchers at the center. Ron Gupta, President, IITKGP Foundation USA, was in India for the Convocation Day celebrations and took a tour of the center.
