IIT Kharagpur celebrated its 72nd Annual Convocation on July 4, 2026, in a year of extraordinary significance—the Institute’s Platinum Jubilee, marking 75 years since IIT Kharagpur became the birthplace of India’s IIT system.
The ceremony was more than a celebration of academic achievement. It was a moment to reflect on IIT Kharagpur’s remarkable journey from India’s first IIT to a globally recognized institution for education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The graduating class now joins a worldwide community of KGPians whose contributions have shaped industry, academia, technology, public service, and society.

IIT Kharagpur Alumnus Ashiss Kumar Dash Named Infosys CEO-Designate
Another proud moment for KGP! Ashiss Kumar Dash (1994/ChE), an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, has been named CEO-Designate of Infosys, one of India’s leading global technology companies. He will succeed Salil Parekh as Managing Director and CEO on April 1, 2027, subject to the required approvals. Dash has spent more than three decades at Infosys, rising through a series of leadership roles across global operations, delivery, and diverse industry sectors. He currently leads a broad portfolio spanning more than 12 industry verticals and has played an important role in the company’s digital transformation and sustainability initiatives.
